1. MARTIANS FROM THE PLANET JUPITER (Dir: David Kivlehan) In 90’s Ireland, two friends, Shay and Cillian, witness a UFO crash and go to investigate. When a secret branch of the government show up, aliens are the least of the pairs problems!

2. WONDERWALL (Dir: Jacob Housego) Short film about a curious wall in a village in Devon.

3. TISSUE (Dir: Leszek Cygan) A persistent nosebleed exposes a young man’s tissue.

4. CULPA (Dir: Josh Wilson) Caught within a heinous crime, two people come face to face too uncover a deadly truth.

5. GREEN BOXES (Dir: Matt Hill) A young woman, disillusioned by the struggles of sentient life, stumbles across a mysterious green box which slowly turns its users into plants.

6. LEAVE (Dir: Jack McAlister) A group of online friends faces adversity when an unknown user by the name of “X” invades their video call, forcing them each to unwillingly answer a series of personal questions relating to each of their secrets. A nightmare for the group of teenagers, which they cannot leave…

7. PILLARBOXED (Dir: Alex Chorley) A man, a strange letter and a mysterious post box!

8. THE LAST SUPPER (Dir: Harry Moorcroft) Will Brandon evade the dangers of his intruder?

Every year we receive hundreds of entries into CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER from young people wishing to share their stories with a wider audience. In 2021 we received over 600 short film submissions from the next generation of young creatives and we a delighted to share with you the competition shortlists.

The shortlists are presented in several different genre packages including – Drama, Animation, Documentary, Fantastic, Experimental, Music Video, Short Shorts and Under 18.

As well as celebrating their work, the Young Filmmaker Shortlist Showcase allows young directors to view films made by their peers and offers the opportunity for them to network online and talk movies! Join us as we celebrate the achievements of young people and meet the filmmaking stars of the future.
